Astro WMS is alive and constantly renewing itself

The latest version is called Astro WMS 7.60 and contains a number of minor and major improvements.

As we all know, the only constant in the world is change and this applies more today than ever before. Uncertainty and fast changes to conditions in the wider world is the current order of the day and naturally, WMS has to constantly take this into consideration. Consequently, the ongoing development of Astro WMS is a high priority for Consafe Logistics. It can always be slightly better and meet the needs of different companies to an even greater extent.

For the same reason, Consafe Logistics has established a team which currently comprises nine experts whose full-time job is to collate experiences from customers, consultants and other IT experts. Twice per year, the team implements carefully selected improvements on Astro WMS. Some of these improvements will be of particular relevance to specific industries while others will be relevant to all industries. The development work takes places in close cooperation with customers and their ongoing feedback on specific and practical challenges are a cornerstone for this work. This ensures that WMS matches the customers’ needs and requirements at any time.

The latest version is called Astro WMS 7.60 and contains a number of minor and major improvements. The biggest new improvement includes:

  • Queue Performance Management: A new innovation that provides a detailed overview of and better management of the daily task flow in the warehouse. The function makes it easier for the daily management to quickly gain an overview of remaining lead times for main tasks, spot the most critical tasks, spot the speed on current tasks, prioritise in the task flow, see how many employees are logged in, see the need for resources, etc.
  • Inventory Audit: A newly developed function for stocktaking that takes place in accordance with the international standard, Sarbanes Oxley Act (SODX), from 2002. For example, the function stops unnecessary stocktaking transactions from/to the ERP system, making it possible to conduct stocktaking parallel to the daily operation and gives the possibility of setting up different models for stocktaking.
  • Refined Bulk Handling: Bulk items in particular can be handled in split portions. This applies to the performing of pick and pack and for replenishing.
  • Optimised Pre-pick: This function makes it possible to defer picking to a crate until all the necessary pre-pick crates connected to the order are ready to be picked. This prevents the picking station from being disturbed by many open crates that cannot be completely packed and closed because content is still lacking.

Astro WMS 7.60 also contains a large number of smaller, more detailed, improvements. The common characteristic is that the improvements are flexible and simple to implement.
