DAHL CONSOLIDATES NEXT-DAY PROMISE WITH ASTRO WMS® AT NEW BÅLSTA SITE AS A KEY PIECE OF THE PUZZLE
Earlier this year, Dahl Sverige AB completed the migration to its new central warehouse in Bålsta, Sweden, marking a major milestone in the company’s logistics transformation journey. The site, now fully operational with Astro WMS®, strengthens Dahl’s capacity, scalability, and ability to meet its nationwide next-day delivery promise.
The move replaces Dahl’s previous Kallhäll facility and equips the company with highly automation-ready operation designed for its broad product range, from small fasteners to large pipes. Dahl was already using Astro WMS® at its Kallhäll site, which provided a proven foundation for the transition to Bålsta, where the system now plays an even more central role through deeper integration with automation. The transition was carried out in phases, beginning with initial flows in late 2024, followed by the first customer orders in January 2025, and full migration finalized in May.
Today, roughly 70% of orderlines are handled by automation, while bulky and outdoor goods continue to be in optimized manual areas. Since going live, operations have stabilized, and Dahl’s logistics team continues to fine-tune processes to maximize automation efficiency and support future growth.

Jonathan Mankowitz, Director of Logistics, Dahl Sverige AB
"Stability and availability are absolutely critical for us, most orders arrive late in the day and must be delivered across Sweden the next morning. Astro WMS® gives us one system that spans both manual and automated flows, with a deeper integration into automation than before,
The go-live was characterized by close collaboration between Dahl, Consafe Logistics, and the automation partner, with a strong, experienced team ensuring a smooth handover and high system reliability from day one. Rigorous end-to-end testing, including thousands of simulated orders, secured system performance and minimized potential disruption during the transition.
Outcomes to date include higher picking speed in automated areas, improved ergonomics and safety through well-designed workstations, and tangible sustainability gains from right-sized, volume-reduced cartons that minimize air in shipments and optimize pallet stability. The site itself meets BREEAM Excellent standards, reflecting Dahl’s strong environmental focus.

Tobias Uppström, After Sales Director at Consafe Logistics
“We’re proud to have worked closely in partnership with Dahl’s highly competent logistics team throughout this project. Together, we’ve ensured a smooth transition to a robust WMS platform that unifies manual and automated processes. Astro WMS® is built for high availability and fast change, enabling Dahl to continuously fine-tune flows as volumes and customer needs evolve.”
Building on the successful implementation, Dahl and Consafe Logistics are now focusing on continuous optimization, refining data flows, automation, and warehouse processes to unlock even more efficiency and resilience.
